there is a very 'otherworldly' feeling to this, mystical, yet imbalanced- kinda like shes out of her mind, yet, still in her mind, ya know? Its cool, its blue, but yet the darkness that incompasses the left side of the pic leaves you with a deep uneasy feeling. very interestingly balanced work.
thanks. its one of my personal favorites. when i 1st started playing w/ fotoshop i figured it could make anyone and artist (and to a point it can) but really if you dont have the skill of composition and design photoshop can only do so much. comments like yours let me know i doing good in the composition part of my work, thanks.
hey composition is the tough part. i have kids in my classes who could copy anything u put infront of them down to the skin cells, but couldn't throw together an orginal picture to save their lives. Any one can be taught the tecincals of drawing, but composition...its a muh suble-er concept to grasp.
thanks, it was a stock photo i found. i see what your saying about her profile though, i didnt want her to be face to be very visible though, that way the viewer can more easily identify her w/ themselves or someone else, sort of give her any face they want.
An interesting concept and mood. I know you were going for the blue thing, but you might try playing with colors a little bit, just so it isn't so monotone. Even slightly different blues, just to give it some variety.
im actually very colorblind. all i can really see are different darks and lights, the 'shades' of blue are kinda hard to tell apart. i was just trying to get an overall 'cool' feeling from using the blues.
thanks for the comment!
That's pretty cool. I actually had some art classes with a kid who was rather colorblind. He could render drawing very well, and he was learning to work with color, but it was a little difficult for him.
yeah, every once in awhile ill screw up something and get it the wrong color (see a piece in my gallery called 'Its only the end of the world again' for a great example of that) but by not being able to see color that well i think it makes my work that much more expressive maybe, just using warm and cool colors without regard to blue, red, green etc.
i read somewhere that the album 'kind of blue' sounds like herion feels. i wasnt being literal though. i was talking about the romanticized image of the drug. anyway most drugs feel good until they start to wear off and you go broke trying to get that feeling back. i think the loneliness and loss of self that would be brought on by herion has been depicted in the work very nicely in that whole 'hollywood beautiful addiction' vein. sorry, i think i just came up w/ a terrible pun.
